What’s not covered under ING Comprehensive Car Insurance policy?

It’s also important to understand what you’re not covered for. Below are examples of some standard exclusions in ING’s comprehensive cover:

  • Loss, damage or liability caused by driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • Drivers and other household members not listed or otherwise excluded on your policy
  • Driving without a valid licence or permit to drive in Australia
  • Carrying passengers and goods for payment, including taxis, ridesharing, food delivery and paid driving tuition
  • Hiring to other people
  • Using the insured vehicle for racing, trials, tests, contests or rallies
  • General wear and tear, corrosion, rust or depreciation
  • Tyre damage caused by punctures, cuts or bursts
  • Deliberately using your car for unlawful purposes or intentionally causing damage to it
  • Mechanical, structural, electrical, electronic, computer or computer program failures, malfunction or breakdowns
  • Loss, damage or liability caused as a result of cleaning, modifying, repairing, servicing or restoring the car.

How can I pay for my ING car insurance and is it cheaper to pay my premium annually?

You can pay for your ING car insurance fortnightly, monthly or annually by direct debit or credit card. Keep in mind that fortnightly and monthly payment options incur an instalment processing fee and a premium loading, so you may be able to save on these if you pay your premiums annually.

Does ING car insurance cover under 25’s?

ING car insurance can cover drivers under 25, subject to underwriting criteria and driving history.

How do I make a car insurance claim with ING?

After you’ve collected as much information as possible from the incident, you can start your claim online or by calling the claims team. Things that might help with processing your claim include:

  • Your ING policy number
  • Incident details (what time and where it happened)
  • Contact, insurance and vehicle details from the other drivers
  • Witness contact details
  • Police report number (if claim is for theft or malicious damage)
  • Photos from the scene
  • Towing company details.

What is the excess on ING car insurance?

Every policy has a basic excess and the amount you pay will depend on how much you nominate when you purchase your policy. For example, if you agree to a basic excess of $900, that’s how much you may have to pay when making a claim. The excess amount you choose may impact your premiums.

Under some circumstances, you may also need to pay additional excesses. These may apply if the car is driven by a person who is not an excluded driver but who:

  • Is under 25 years of age
  • Is not listed as a driver on your policy
  • Has not held a full or open Australian licence for two years or more.

How do I cancel my ING car insurance?

You can cancel your ING car insurance policy at any time over the phone. If you cancel your policy within 21 days after purchase or renewal and no claim is made, you can receive a full refund. Cancelling outside this cooling-off period may incur an early cancellation fee, but you should still receive a refund on the unused premiums you’ve paid.
