We don’t charge consumers anything to use our comparison service. Instead, we receive a commission from the insurers we partner with each time one of our customers takes out a new car insurance policy through our website or by phone with one of our insurance partners. More details about our fees can be found in our Financial Services Guide.
We pride ourselves on the integrity of our comparison service, so it’s critically important to us that the way we make money doesn’t affect the way we compare or present products from our partners. This helps us to provide a transparent comparison service.
Individually comparing several insurers and policies can be a difficult and time-consuming task. Our comparison service helps savvy customers compare policies and shop around for a better deal in a more efficient way. We aim to make that process easier and faster, giving our customers peace of mind that they’ve come to the right place.
On our website, our customers can enter details about themselves and their cars, tell us what type of product they want (e.g. full comprehensive or third party only) and then browse through policies from a number of insurers available to them. Once they’ve found a suitable policy, they can then proceed to the insurer’s website to complete the purchase online, or a representative from the insurer’s call centre may contact them to assist them with completing their purchase over the phone. We also provide contact numbers on our results page for some providers so consumers can call the insurer themselves to complete the application.
The comparison service and any other information provided on our website is factual information and general advice. That means that we don’t make personal recommendations or suggestions or give advice about the suitability of a particular insurance product for a customer’s specific needs. Rather, we encourage our customers to evaluate their needs, objectives and situation to decide which products are suitable for them, using our comparison service as a helpful tool. More information can be found in our Financial Services Guide.
We currently compare car insurance products from the following car insurance brands:
We’re working hard to welcome brands that aren’t currently part of our comparison service and we hope to have good news on that front for our customers in the future.
There will be times when certain brands or products aren’t available or don’t return quotes to a customer. This may be because the customer doesn’t meet their underwriting criteria or isn’t eligible for certain products. For example, many car insurers don’t insure or don’t have appropriate insurance policies for classic, vintage or high-value cars.
All of the above car insurance brands other than Everyday Insurance, Carpeesh, Huddle and Stella sell policies that are arranged by Auto & General Services Pty Ltd, for and on behalf of the insurer, Auto & General Insurance Company Limited, both of which are related entities of Compare the Market Pty Ltd.
